We have enjoyed the global benefits of rapid digitisation, efficiencies of scale and connectivity across our populations, regions and countries. But these benefits and the opportunities they present also come with challenges the scale and nature of which are escalating and evolving. Our adversaries are emboldened, aspirational, little deterred and have a rich tapestry of vulnerabilities and capabilities to draw upon. So what does this mean for the evolution of how we think about defence? What does this mean for deterrence and resilience and how do we tackle it together? Pete Cooper led the development of the UK Government Cyber Security Strategy, setting out the roadmap for meeting this challenge at a sector scale, refocusing on resilience and building partnerships to better “defend as one”.
